Collection Time
Collection will be on Monday, Wednesday and Friday as per the above map. Waste must be put out for curbside collection by 8:00 a.m. on the waste collection day.
It must be placed immediately adjacent to the front residential property line and easily accessible from the street.
Garbage Cans / Bags
Two (2) Can/Bag Limit: Residential premises will be allowed not more than two (2) cans/bags of solid waste per residence. Garbage cans or bags should not exceed 22 kg (50 lbs) in weight.
Extra Quantity: Excess cans/bags of waste (over the limit of 2) may be put out for collection if a surcharge sticker is applied. The third and additional can/bag of waste without a sticker will not be collected. A surcharge sticker for over the limit of 2 cans/bags will be available for $1.00 at Canada Safeway Ltd., Marketplace at Selkirk, Extra Foods and the Public Works and Civic offices. Stickers should be applied to the garbage inside any excess cans/bags.
Trees & Branches:
Must be cut into 3 foot lengths and bundled with string not weighing more than 50 lbs.
Collection Guidelines
Solid waste is to be placed in a can fitted with handles to facilitate handling; or a non-returnable plastic bag, tied at the top. Unacceptable material include:
construction/demolition waste
excavation waste
bulky waste
metallic waste
used tires
used oil
hazardous waste
The above materials, with the exception of hazardous waste, are accepted at the Waste Transfer Station.
