| What is the Water Tower Lands Development?
The Water Tower Lands Development involves the conversion of the site bounded by Sophia, Clandeboye, McLean and Jemima into a multi-use development that includes:
- A new, mid-range to high-end, multi-unit residential complex
- Enhanced community green space with proposed amenities such as new public walking/skating trails and playground
Why is the City of Selkirk developing this land?

Selkirk is growing. The population of our city is increasing and there is an immediate need for additional high-quality, multi-unit housing.
The Water Tower Lands project would allow the city to turn an under-used parcel of city-owned land into a vibrant, community-centered recreation and residential space that would better meet the needs of Selkirk citizens.
Developing the Water Tower lands will help the city meet a growing demand for housing while making site-wide improvements that will create distinct benefit for the wider community.
What is the status of the project?
The City of Selkirk is currently completing the steps necessary to prepare the site for rezoning, sale and development. The City is committed to seeing the Water Tower Lands Development through, and to providing the citizens of Selkirk with an opportunity to provide feedback on how this project can best benefit all families while meeting an identified need to expand housing options and availability at a time of rapid growth for Selkirk.
To this end, the City wants open and honest feedback from the community on the implementation of the overall development and on recreational and leisure enhancements to the green space that would most benefit the community.
Stakeholder Interviews (February 2012 - completed)
In February 2012, the City of Selkirk interviewed several stakeholders, including neighbouring residents, representatives of groups who use current recreational facilities on the site and members of the business community. These interviews provided an opportunity to share some background about the plans for the water tower lands development, and to begin to learn more about stakeholder questions, concerns and insights.
Public Open House (March 2012 - completed)
The City of Selkirk
held a public open house on March 8th, where the public was invited to learn
more about the project. Input gathered at the open house will be incorporated
as the City of Selkirk moves forward with development plans.
Ongoing Communication (Spring 2012 forward)
The City will keep the citizens of Selkirk informed as the project progresses and key decisions and milestones are reached.
